Dr. Ragen has been endorsed by Marquis Who’s Who as a leader in the education industry

 ST. LOUIS, March 7, 2019 — Marquis Who’s Who, the world’s premier publisher of biographical profiles, is proud to present Brian A. Ragen, PhD, with the Albert Nelson Marquis Lifetime Achievement Award. An accomplished listee, Dr. Ragen celebrates many years’ experience in his professional network, and has been noted for achievements, leadership qualities, and the credentials and successes he has accrued in his field. As in all Marquis Who’s Who biographical volumes, individuals profiled are selected on the basis of current reference value. Supported by nearly three decades of professional experience, Dr. Ragen has held the title of professor emeritus at Bryn Mawr College since 2013, having first served the college as an associate professor in 1993 and full professor in 2000. Prior to these engagements, he held the posts of an associate professor at Southern Illinois University Edwardsville between 1988 and 1993. He also contributed as a lecturer for Bryn Mawr College and Princeton University from 1984 to 1987. Other career-related endeavors include serving as a visiting professor with Hong Kong Baptist University in 2010.

A graduate of Princeton University, Dr. Ragen earned a Master of Arts in 1983 and a Doctor of Philosophy in 1987. He also holds a Bachelor of Arts from Pomona College, which he received in 1980. An expert in the field, he has contributed numerous articles to professional publications on the topics of heraldry, hymnody, and literary canons.

Civically, Dr. Ragen has been associated with Fontbonne University as a trustee, as well as a secretary and board member for the Field House Museum. Likewise, he has served as a board member of the St. Louis Cathedral Concerts and has volunteered more than 300 hours to the United States Department of Veterans Affairs. A respected voice in the industry, his books “A Wreck on the Road to Damascus” and “Tom Wolfe: A Critical Companion” were published in 1989 and 2002, respectively. Dr. Ragen is gratified to have produced the 2018 musical composition, “Word to Music: Songs of Eugene Field,” featuring accompaniments from Christine Brewer and Scott Kennebeck.

A member of the Modern Language Association, Dr. Ragen remains affiliated with the American Recorder Society, the Conference on Christianity and Literature, and the Country Dance and Song Society. He is also a proud member of the Order of St. John and the Equestrian Order of the Holy Sepulchre of Jerusalem. Outside of his essential responsibilities, he enjoys singing, playing the recorder and cooking.
